Boxing Day + Illamasqua

In the six years I’ve been in Melbourne, this is the first time I’ve ever entered the city on boxing day and partook in the act of mass crowd consumerism on this festive day of – BUYING ALL THE THINGS!

Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed by: A. Most of what was available to me and B. The apparent savings that I was supposed to be making. I got a pair of cute shoes that I knew were already on discount prior to the boxing say sales and full priced make-up.

Even though the sales themselves were disappointing, I was pleased to have been introduced to Illamasqua, a British cosmetic brand that had recently opened a counter in Myer, Melbourne. A brand which I would liken to MAC, Mecca or anything similar in terms of dramatic effect.

I have never had a make-up artist test products on me before, so the girls and I had a little fun in the process of my new discovery. I was looking for a peach, orange eye shadow and ended up leaving the cosmetic section of Myers looking like this:

My girlfriend left in a similar state but was glowing glittery blue and silver instead. SO MUCH FUN.

It was no surprise that I was coaxed into buying more than one product. I got two brightly coloured Medium Pencils in Spell (Red) and Trash (Orange) and a free nail polish in Caress (very pale blue) and am going back for the matching eye shadows with my Chrissy gift card soon  (I wasn’t intending on shopping so I’d forgotten them – boo)

Either way it was an entertaining day with the girls ending with a few goodies and of course, more food
