DIY Spider Macrame Bracelet

macrame spider bracelet feature2I’ve created this spider macrame bracelet in the spirit of the upcoming Halloween celebrations.

After having moved a couple of times in the last few years and having to kind of go back to the drawing board socially twice now, I think Halloween celebrations might be a little out of my potential plans for that night (that and I’m not in America where it’s a huge deal). But that doesn’t mean I can’t be wearing a hint of the Halloween spirit 😉

So I’ve done a very similar project previously with this DIY Macrame Charm Bracelet.

The only difference with that project and this is there are no jump rings in this project. So if you choose to take on this little project, make sure that the holes in the charms you’re going to use are somewhat spacious as you’re going to be threading the cord in twice in the same charm.

So here is what you need:

I got all my materials from Pandahall. If you’re looking for some spooky Halloween charms they have some cute ones 😉

Instructions:

Part 1 – Starting the macrame pattern

Instruction Layout - macrame spider charm bracelet 1Step 1:

  • Cut out a piece of waxed cord longer than 2x your desired bracelet length.
  • Thread a bead to the center of it and tie a knot to keep it in place. It should now look like its been folded in half with a bed on one side and loose threads on the other. Stick it down as shown in the image to a ficed surface.
  • Cut a second piece of waxed cord about 1.5m in length and place it behind the stuck down cord. Center it.

Step 2:

  • Bring the single right cord over the double center cords.

Step 3:

  • Bring the single left cord over the single right cord and thread it back under the right cord and the center double cord.
  • The image below shows how the knot should look like before tightening. macrame beaded bracelet2

Step 4:

  • Tighten the knot.
  • Bring the single left cord over the double center cords.

Step 5:

  • Bring the single right cord over the single left cord and thread it back under the left cord and the center double cord.
  • The image below shows how the knot should look like before tightening.

  • Tighten and repeat the last 4 steps.

Step 3: Create the second knot by following the previous instructions (4 and 5 – start with bringing the left cord over the center double cords). Tighten.

Step 4: Thread right cord through the same charm again. From back to front of the charm.

Step 5: Create the first knot by following the previous instructions (2 and 3 – start with bringing the right cord over the center double cords). Tighten.

Step 6: Create the seconnd knot by following the previous instructions (4 and 5 – start with bringing the left cord over the center double cords). Tighten.
