I have recently been planning so many skater skirts due to my recurring Black Milk Clothing obsession.
You’ve seen my original neon Circle Skater Skirt post and now I give you… the quilted skater!
The method for making this is done in exactly the same way as the neon Circle Skater Skirt. Circle, cut, waist, sew – BAM – done.
I had a couple of metres of this grey stretch quilted fabric I picked up in Melbourne last year and have been um and err-ing about what to make from it. When I saw it I knew I had to make something from it. The rigidity from the padding in conjunction with the soft jersey outer layer made this particular quilted fabric unique.
When I had finally decided what I was going to make with it I was also quite curious about the final product. I knew it would be poofier (is that a word?) than the original skirts I had made, but I didn’t know what it would really look like.
I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome 🙂
- Sewing Machine / and or Overlocker
- Quilted Fabric
- Elastic / Waist band
I only took a few photos because this is made in the same way as the neon Circle Skater Skirt, so if you want a little more detail, have a look here.
It’s super poofy, but not so much where it’s in your face about it and is still heavy enough where it falls quite nicely. Since it is quilted, this would also be a great layering piece during winter!
I know, I’m in Malaysia, why on earth would I want another layering piece?? Don’t worry, I’m not insane. I have been to Europe during the last couple of winters and I’m just being prepared for my next trip!
Plus circle skirts of all kinds are great for yoga and dance 😉
I hope you like it as much as I do 🙂
